Physical Education

At Chesterton Primary School we want all children to enjoy PE and participate in lessons so that they can challenge themselves, build resilience and understand what it means to have a healthy and active lifestyle.

PE can help promote self-esteem and bring out the best in children.

PE can teach children to cope with both success and failure in competitive, individual and team based physical activities.

In dance and movement we want children to be creative and understand body control. It is an area of PE where children can enjoy feel good and let loose!

PE  is taught by a PE specialist. Children have equal opportunities to take part in a range of sports and physical activities where effort as well as success is recognised.

We have planned our curriculum to ensure all children can experience a range of disciplines and learn a variety of skills. We teach the National Curriculum, supported by a clear skills and knowledge progression. This ensures that skills and knowledge are built on year by year and sequenced appropriately to maximise learning for all children.

Children are encouraged to participate in exercise through-out the day during PE lessons, clubs, outdoor learning, lunch provision and special events.
